Kolayat - A Beautiful Place in India

Bikaner is a colorful cultural city in Rajasthan. It has interesting bazaars, historic buildings, and temples that date back to when ancient seers lived on earth. However, there is a place called Kolayat near Bikaner which is also a place of pilgrimage for the people of Bikaner and remote places.
According to the well-known legend, Kapil Muni who was an incarnation of Lord Mahvishnu and a great sage who founded the Samkhya Yoga philosophy. Once upon a time, while walking around Bikaner, Kapil Muni came across a certain place and was struck by its tranquility. The sage interrupted his journey to northwest India and settled there temporarily to do penance. It is believed that the sage lived under the bell tree. Due to the positive energies generated by Kapil Muni's penance, this place became a powerful and revered place for generations to come.

This place used to be called Kolayat and there are ghats, temples, special lakes and markets in Kolayat. It is located about 50-51 kilometers from the city of Bikaner. There are marble stone temples in Kolayat and they are known for their beautiful sandstone pavilions. The city also has 32 ghats created around an artificial lake. However, the waters of this lake are considered sacred and it is custom among devotees to take a holy bath in them. On a full moon day in the auspicious month of Kartik according to the Hindu lunar calendar, an annual fair is held on a large scale at the site of the lake.
A cattle fair is also organized in Kolayat.
This city is well connected to other destinations in India by rail and road.
