Prof. Raghuvendra Tanwar

Prof. Raghuvendra Tanwar receives the Padma Shri award from President Kovind for literature and education. He is the Chairman of the ICHR in New Delhi and an emeritus professor at Kurukshetra University. He is well renowned for his research on India’s partition, particularly the split of the Punjab and Jammu & Kashmir.

On 20 February 1955 Prof. Raghuvendra Tanwar was born into a land-owning family in the village of Lukhi, Kurukshetra, Haryana. His academic resume includes two MA in History gold awards. He’s a well-known tennis player as well. He completed his education at Kurukshetra University, Shimla, and BCS, one of the oldest public institutions in India.

His wife, Professor Reicha Tanwar, is a well-known gender studies expert who served as the Center for Women Studies’ Professor-Director at Kurukshetra University in Kurukshetra (Haryana). They have two kids: Sugandhi and Sukarma.
