Prahalad Rai Agarwala received the Padma Shri award for Trade & industry from the honourable President of India, Shri Ramnath Kovind. He is the Chairman and founder of RUPA and its affiliated businesses. Shri Prahlad Rai Agarwala ji is the founder trustee of the Kalyan Bharti Trust as well as the chairman of the Heritage Institute of Technology in Kolkata. Upon the Institute’s completion of 20 years, it is a significant gift. We must commend him for his excellence and humility since he believes that receiving such an award honours both his entire family and the entire community.
The Indian government has bestowed the Padma Shri honour upon Prahlad Rai Agarwala, Executive Chairman of Rupa & Company, a renowned business with headquarters in Kolkata.
The Padma Shri is India’s fourth-highest civilian honour.
Rupa & Company, one of the biggest knitwear brands in India with a revenue of more than Rs. 1,200 crores, manufactures innerwear, casualwear, sleepwear, and thermal wear for men, women, and children.
Only a select few leaders in the Indian textile and clothing industries, like Dr A. Sakthivel of Poppys Knitwear and SP Oswal of Vardhman Group, have received the prestigious Padma awards in recent years.
The Chairman, his vision, and his work have had an enormously positive impact on Indian society as a whole, and this recognition is of unmatched importance in recognising that.
