Filmmaker Chandraprakash Dwivedi was presented with the Padma Shri, the fourth-highest civilian award for his contributions to Indian cinema.
At a Civil Investiture Ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan, President Ram Nath Kovind presented Chandraprakash with the honor in the presence of Vice President M. Venkaiah Nadi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

Dr. Chandraprakash Dwivedi is an Indian actor, director, and screenwriter best known for helming the 1991 television epic Chanakya, in which he also portrayed the political sage and inspiration to millions, Chanakya, in the titular role. He also directed Mrityunjay, a 1996 television series based on the life of Karna, one of the principal figures in the epic Mahabharata, for which he received a Screen Videocon Best Director award.
His other notable work is the 2003 movie Pinjar, which is based on the same-named novel by Amrita Pritam and tells a sad love story set against the backdrop of Hindu-Muslim tensions during the Partition of India. Samrat Prithviraj, starring Akshay Kumar, was another film he wrote and directed.
