Brahmanand Sagoon Kamat Sankhalika born on 6 March 1954 captained the Indian football team from 1983 to 1986 while playing as a goalkeeper. He was regarded as one of India’s top goalkeepers and played goal for 25 years. He participated in club sports for Panvel Sports Club, Salacar, Churchill Brothers, Anderson Mariners, and the Goa state team in the Santosh Trophy, spending 17 years with Salgaocar. He played for Goa and guided the squad to two straight Santosh Trophy victories in 1983 and 1984. He holds the Indian record after keeping a clean sheet for 576 minutes during the 1984 competition.
He was selected as the player of the decade for the years 1985 to 1995 by the All India Football Federation. In 1997, the Indian government honored him with the Arjuna Award in recognition of his contributions to Indian football.
