The Padma Awards, India’s highest civilian honor, are awarded to honor each recipient’s unique achievements in a variety of sectors, including art, science, and trade. On January 26, 2022, a number of brilliant Indians received Padma Awards for their contributions to science and engineering.

The list includes Padma Shri recipient Aditya Prasad Dash, the present vice chancellor of the Asian Institute of Public Health in Bhubaneswar. The Central University of Tamil Nadu’s former vice-chancellor is Aditya Prasad Dash. Prasad Dash, who once served as the World Health Organization’s (SEARO) regional adviser, is a native of the eastern state of Odisha.

Who is Aditya Prasad Dash?

Aditya Prasad Dash, an Indian biologist with a focus on malaria and vector-borne illnesses, was born on March 23, 1951, in the Indian State of Odisha. His interests lie in the fields of biomedical research, tropical disease transmission biology, and the contemporary biology of disease vectors. Dash has co-authored 699 publications, according to Vidwan, the national network for scholars and experts.

Dash has been the vice chancellor of the Asian Institute of Public Health (AIPH) in Bhubaneswar since September 2020. He served as the Vice Chancellor of the Central University of Tamil Nadu from August 2015 to August 2020 before joining AIPH. He has previously served as the Regional Advisor for the South-East Region at the World Health Organization (WHO). Additionally, he served as the Director of the National Institute for Research on Tribal Health in Jabalpur, the Institute of Life Sciences in Bhubaneswar, and the National Institute of Malaria Research in New Delhi.
