Dr. Jayantkumar Maganlal Vyas is awarded the Padma Shri for Science and Engineering by President Kovind. He is the founding vice chancellor of the National Forensic Sciences University and a seasoned forensic scientist. He is the senior-most tenured forensic scientist in India, having worked for 48 years.

Jyantkumar Mangaldas Vyas is a Vice Chancellor of the National Forensic Sciences University in Gandhinagar, India. He spent three decades leading the Directorate of Forensic Science in Gujarat State.

Vyas possesses a Master of Science, a Ph.D., and a Law Degree.

From 1993 till his retirement in 2009, Vyas was the Director of the Gujarat State Directorate of Forensic Science. Up until 2020, he was in charge of the office in addition. From February 2009 to 2020, he served as the Gujarat Forensic Sciences University’s Director General. In 2020, the institution changed its name to the National Forensic Sciences University, and he remained the Vice Chancellor.
