Who is Shivnath Mishra?
Indian sitarist Pandit Shivnath Mishra was born on October 12, 1943. He is a representative of Indian classical music’s Benares Gharana school. At the Sampurnanand Sanskrit University in Varanasi, he formerly served as a lecturer and the head of the music department.
He is the renowned Benares Gharana lineage’s tenth generation. His father, Badri Prasad Mishra, and uncle, Mahadev Prasad Mishra, were his teachers. But when he was eight years old, his interest in music inspired him to learn the sitar.
