Sankaramanchi Janaki, sometimes known as Sowcar Janaki or Shavukaru Janaki, was born T. Janak on December 12, 1931. She is an Indian actress who has acted in more than 300 films, primarily in Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada. She was a radio performer in her early years and appeared on stage in over 300 performances. She has received two Nandi Awards, the Kalaimamani Award, and the Padma Shri, the fourth-highest civilian honour in India. A well-known actress is also Krishna Kumari, her younger sister.
