Maharaja Ganga Singh, the ruler of Bikaner in the 1900s, built this palace for residential purposes. The palace was built according to the Indo-Saracenic architectural style. The palace was designed by the famous British architect, Colonel Samuel Swinton Jacob. The palace was built to provide a livelihood for the common people of Bikaner and a lavish residence for the royal family.
