Padma Shree Awards for Others – Spiritualism
Padma Shri awards is one of the highest civilian awards given by the Government of India in recognition of distinguished service in various fields such as art, literature, education, social work, medicine, sports, and others.
The award for spiritualism is not specifically mentioned in the Padma Shri categories, but it is possible that individuals who have made significant contributions to the field of spirituality or religion may be considered for the award under the “Others” category.
Many spiritual leaders and religious figures have been awarded the Padma Shri, including Sri Ravi Shankar, Mata Amritanandamayi, Swami Dayananda Saraswati, Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev, and others.
Shri Kushok Thiksey Nawang Chamba Stanzin
The latest abbot of Thiksay Monastery is Thiksay Khenpo Rinpoche. He is the ninth incarnation of Lord Tsongkhapa, the creator of the Yellow Hat sect of Tibetan Buddhism, and a contemporary pupil named Jangsem Sherab Zangpo.
The monks of Thiksay Monastery have received countless teachings and initiations from Thiksay Rinpoche, who has also launched a number of important projects like the establishment of a Common Kitchen to provide the monks with free meals and medical services through the monastery’s Cultural & Welfare Society. From 1999 to 2002, he also served as a member of the Indian government’s Rajya Sabha (upper house).
