Who is Chirapat Prapandvidya ?
Chirapat Prapandvidya is the founder and first Director of the Sanskrit Studies Centre at Silpakorn University in Thailand. The center was founded in 1996 to encourage Sanskrit study and research, and HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, an Indologist and Sanskrit scholar, is the organization’s patron. He has received the Padma Bhushan Award from the Indian government as well as the inaugural World Sanskrit Award. The building of the institution was largely financed by the Indian government. Sanskrit instruction and research have gained significant traction in Thailand thanks in large part to Chirapat Prapandvidya. He has always worked to inspire and encourage Thai Sanskrit students and teachers to comprehend and value Indian culture and tradition.
