Shri Narasingha Prasad Guru received a Padma Shri from President Kovind for his contributions to literature and education. He was a well-known Koshali language writer in Odisha and created the 17,000-word “Koshali-Odia Abhidhan” dictionary.
Who is Narasingha Prasad Guru ?
Author and lyricist Narasingha Prasad Guru hails from the Indian state of Odisha. He helped establish and popularize the Koshali language, also known as Sambalpuri, which is spoken in western Odisha and is sometimes referred to as a dialect of the Odiya language. In this language, he has written over ten books and almost 500 songs. He has also created a Koshali language dictionary.
