Dr. Harmohinder Singh Bedi receives the Padma Shri award from President Kovind for literature and education. He is the Chancellor of the Central University of Himachal Pradesh in Dharamshala, a prominent Hindi novelist and scholar from Punjab.

Who is Harmohinder Singh Bedi ?

Harmohinder Singh Bedi, a Hindi author, academician, and administrator of higher education from the Indian State of Punjab, was born on March 12, 1950. He has been the Chancellor of the Central University of Himachal Pradesh since 4 July 2018. He is a member of both the National Monitoring Committee on Minority Education and the Indian Council of Social Science Research.

Harmohinder Singh Bedi previously held the positions of Professor Emeritus at Punjabi University in Patiala and Professor and Head of the Hindi Department at Guru Nanak Dev University in Amritsar before joining the Central University of Himachal Pradesh. He also held the positions of Dean and Director of the Chairs of Bhagat Kabir, Satguru Ram Singh, and Swami Vivekanand at Guru Nanak Dev University.
